Selling Your Restaurant Equipment with Kwik Auctions

Thanks for your interest in selling with Kwik Auctions!

We take pride in our reputation as the best choice for selling restaurant equipment, and believe our track record speaks for itself. Before diving into the process, it's crucial to highlight an essential protocol: prospective sellers must reach out to us prior to shipping or dropping off any equipment to our auction showroom.

Please email consignment inquiries to info@kwik.ca.

Initiate a discussion regarding your equipment. Please include model numbers, approximate age, and pictures if possible. It is important for us to let you know what our commission percentage rate will be. If our commission rate is accepted we will work with you to arrange moving and pickup. This communication ensures that we can effectively manage our current workload and provide the attention your consignment deserves.

We reserve the right to refuse consignments.

If items arrive at our warehouse without us having quoted you a commission percentage we may refuse it. If we are able to accept it we will assign a commission rate at that time, which means the consignor loses the ability to refuse. We don't want to start a relationship in this manner!

We sincerely appreciate your interest in working with us and look forward to the opportunity to assist you in selling your restaurant equipment. Now let's dig into the details!

How we determine your commission (%) rate:

First, it's important to understand just how much better our results are than most auction companies! It's better to pay a 30% commission from $10,000 than it is 15% from $4000! We invest in making sure we get you good results.

For many reasons, typical auction houses can not command the prices Kwik receives for food equipment because of our specialization, transparency, loyal customer base, marketing techniques and shipping and storage services.

  • Our standard commission is 30%, which is for a standard consignment. That is, a restaurant that contains commercial appliances that still have lots of useful life left in them, along with an assortment of small wares and fixtures.

  • For a consignment of high value commercial appliances that are are in excellent to like-new condition, our commission would be 20%-25%.

  • For a consignment of brand-new, high value appliances, our commission can be as low as %15. For new small wares, we charge between 25%-30%.

  • For a consignment containing only used small wares, our commission can be as high as 50%.

Specialization in the Hospitality Industry:

Unlike generic auction houses, we specialize exclusively in food production and serving equipment. Over the years, we have honed our expertise and built a dedicated following within this market.

Marketing your equipment is our strong suit.

Always changing inventory across various industries means most auction houses do ineffective marketing (or very little to none.) Specializing in hospitality industry sales we know how to get your high value items in front of the people who need them!

We will not sell defective equipment.

If it's not worth it for us to fix it properly, it is very unlikely it will be for one of our buyers! Any deficiencies or issues will be listed for our buyers. This is a good thing if you have equipment in good working condition! Selling your equipment through Kwik Auctions means you have end-users bidding on equipment they have confidence in, which translates to better results.

Typically most auction buyers are resellers who know they need to buy it cheap because most auction houses don't test, or even have a policy against selling junk. Most auction houses don't provide a condition assessment or even decent images so the bidder can at least visually assess your equipment. Most end-users will stop buying at auction altogether after getting burned. Not at Kwik! Making sure our buyers have a good experience means our sellers also get better results.

Terms and Conditions:

Any costs incurred for cleaning, disposal, or minor repairs will be deducted from the sale proceeds of the item. Additionally, items of low value, unsuitable for repair, in poor condition or lacking marketability may be subject to disposal at Kwik Auctions' discretion.

Settlement of accounts cannot occur in less than 10 days following an auction. Kwik Auctions must confirm the payment and collection of all items on consignment before processing payment. This process typically takes 10-15 days but may extend up to 60 days or more in rare cases (such as consignments that sell in multiple auctions.)

While we strive to maintain transparency and consistency in our commission rates, we reserve the right to modify the quoted rate under certain circumstances. If items originally discussed are missing from the consignment, if the condition is worse than discussed, or the consignment was otherwise misrepresented, Kwik reserves the right to adjust the commission rate accordingly.

It's important to note our standard consignment terms and conditions apply to all consignments. By consigning items with Kwik Auctions, the consignor acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by our full Consignment Terms & Conditions. Thanks for reading!
